Butterfly Patina is a Phoenix Kiln exclusive wood-fired dragon kiln creation, now permanently discontinued.
Its glaze unites persimmon-red rust with silvery crystalline bloom—forming rare “butterfly wing” patterns that shimmer between gold, violet, and blue.
Each piece reveals metallic iridescence and layered crystalline depth, recalling molten fire suspended in stillness.
During a brief five-year firing period, fewer than four hundred pieces were successfully produced.
After the original dragon kiln was dismantled due to regional redevelopment, the precise firing atmosphere could never again be reproduced, marking the permanent end of this glaze lineage.
Today, fewer than seventy authenticated pieces remain available worldwide, each a finite relic of a vanished firing tradition.
Handmade in Shuiji Town, Jianyang, Fujian, with local iron-rich clay and naturally iron-bearing mineral glaze.
