Still Leaf is a traditional dragon-kiln wood-fired Jian Zhan, created within the orthodox Jian ware tradition.
Each piece begins with a real natural leaf, carefully selected by our artisan during autumn walks through the mountains. Only leaves with the right shape, structure, and character are chosen, knowing each can be used only once.
During days of wood firing at approximately 1350°C, the leaf itself is completely consumed. What remains is its delicate imprint, naturally formed within the glaze through the interaction of fire, iron-rich clay, mineral glaze, and the unique atmosphere inside the dragon kiln.
Because every leaf and every firing are different, no two Still Leaf Jian Zhan can ever be the same. Each piece emerges with its own colors, textures, and subtle character—a fleeting moment from nature, made permanent through fire.
