Formed in a 100-meter Skyward Dragon Kiln through wood firing, this piece belongs to the mineral-shell (Kuangshi Bei) glaze category within Jian ware. The surface develops through natural mineral phase interaction under sustained high-temperature firing, rather than fixed pattern formation.

Using iron-rich local clay and a naturally occurring mineral glaze, prolonged flame exposure and shifting kiln atmosphere promote gradual separation and integration of mineral components within the glaze layer. The resulting structure forms within the glaze rather than on the surface, presenting a stable, subsurface mineral texture shaped directly by firing conditions.

Unlike oil-spot or yohen types that rely on distinct crystallization or optical contrast, mineral-shell glazes are defined by material integration and internal variation. The final result reflects the combined influence of heat path, ash interaction, and atmospheric change inside a long dragon kiln, making each piece inherently non-repeatable.

Each work is fully handmade and individually selected, representing a material-driven expression within traditional Jian firing systems.
