Icejade presents a jade-toned glaze formed in the hundred-meter Skyward Dragon Kiln of Jianyang, Fujian. During the prolonged wood-firing process, iron-bearing minerals within the glaze react under fluctuating oxidation–reduction conditions, producing a restrained green surface with a fine mineral crackle.
The crackle structure develops naturally as the glaze cools, forming a network of micro-lines within the glaze layer. This structure reflects mineral tension created during high-temperature firing rather than applied surface decoration.
With continued tea use, the micro-crackle structure may gradually absorb tea oils, allowing subtle tonal variation to emerge while preserving the glaze’s natural mineral character.
Handmade in Shuiji Town, Jianyang, Fujian, using local iron-rich clay and naturally iron-bearing mineral glaze.
