Where flame ascends into the firmament.

The Firmament series, acquired exclusively by The Phoenix Kiln, arises from a glaze lineage of extraordinary difficulty—its success measured not in repetition but in rarity.

Each piece was born of seasonal fire: dragon-kiln firings possible only through the warmer months, often halted by rain or cold.

The artist had studied this glaze for years, yet remained unsatisfied until this summer, when large-scale trials began in earnest.

By early autumn, after countless adjustments of flame, draft, and glaze composition, the Firmament glaze finally reached its ideal maturity—yielding only a few surviving works of exceptional clarity and depth.

What endures is not formula, but the convergence of flame, atmosphere, and mastery that can never be precisely regained.

In this magnolia-form cup, flame ascends into the firmament. Fired for two days in a dragon kiln, it emerged intact from the turbulence of fire and air—its broad, outward form holding a quiet balance between tension and grace.

Across the deep interior, fine oil-spot crystallization unfolds like a celestial map: silvery-blue constellations expanding from a midnight core, each droplet a moment of flame stilled in glass.

Along the rim, a soft bronze sheen records the breath of ash and ember, blending with the silvery glaze like dawn light on the horizon.

Every contour preserves the living dialogue between iron, air, and woodfire—a fleeting equilibrium never to be repeated.

Each Firmament cup stands as a singular event: a confluence of atmosphere, mineral, and time—where the memory of fire becomes the stillness of heaven.

Handmade in Shuiji Town, Jianyang, Fujian, with local iron-rich clay and naturally iron-bearing mineral glaze.
