Collection: Aurora Cascade

Aurora Cascade is The Phoenix Kiln’s exclusive wood-fired Yohen series, developed through years of experimentation in a traditional dragon kiln in Shuiji Town, Jianyang.

Most Yohen Jian ware is fired inside protective saggars, shielding the glaze from direct flame. Aurora Cascade is different. Visible evidence of flame interaction remains on the surface. Throughout firing, heat, ash, flame, and kiln atmosphere interact with both the iron-rich clay body and glaze, producing naturally formed crystalline structures and kiln-transformation effects unique to each piece.

Under ambient light, the surface often appears dark and restrained. Under bright illumination, hidden colors gradually emerge, revealing layers of crystallization developed during firing. The appearance continues to shift with changing light, viewing angle, and surrounding environment.

With continued tea use, Aurora Cascade may gradually develop new iridescent tones. The long-term interaction between tea and the iron-rich crystalline glaze can subtly transform the appearance of the surface, allowing the vessel to evolve in color and character over time.

Individually numbered and exclusively released, every Aurora Cascade represents a rare expression of open-flame wood-fired Yohen.
